Immersive History Experiences
The Hustler’s Goldmine Disaster (1914): On 2 May 1914, one of Victoria's worst mining tragedies occurred at the Great Extended Hustler’s Mine. Seven miners were killed in an explosion 300 metres underground; today, a modest plaque in Bendigo marks the site where over 900 miners total are estimated to have died on duty over the decades.
The Junortoun Tragedy (1928): A violent murder-suicide shocked the local community when Thomas James Walker shot his wife, their friends William and Ida Manning, and himself after setting fire to the Mannings' home just four miles from Bendigo. Jealousy was cited as the motive during the four-hour coroner's inquiry.
Racial Segregation and the "White Australia" Policy: While Chinese migrants were essential to the goldfields, they faced intense racial segregation and were often excluded from lucrative underground mining. Stringent laws like the 1901 Immigration Restriction Act forced families apart, such as the O’Hoy family, whose matriarch was only permitted to stay in Australia for two years at a time.
The "Six Peaks" Massacres: Historical research by Professor Barry Golding highlights a "violent unsettling" of the Dja Dja Wurrung people around six local mountains, including Liyanganuk (Mt Alexander). These stories of displacement and conflict were long obscured by the more celebrated history of the gold rush.
The Hotel Shamrock: Known as one of Australia’s most haunted locations, the hotel is said to be home to ghosts like young maid Jane O’Brien and "George". Staff and guests have reported being shoved on staircases or seeing a "black shape about the size of a labrador" in the hallways.

Fortuna Villa: This grand estate is reputedly haunted by its founder, George Lansell, seen as a bearded figure, and his first wife, Bedilia, who died under uncertain circumstances. Military personnel once stationed there reportedly requested relocation due to persistent sightings, including a boy in a sailor suit.
The "Bayne Street Ghost" (1898): Over 120 years ago, a "maniac" terrorised Bendigo with a ghost prank so convincing that local residents eventually shot at the figure.
Rosalind Park Nursery & Poppet Head: Locals have long reported a "weird energy" or uncomfortable feeling around the nursery near the old jail. The Poppet Head lookout also has a grim history, with safety cages added only after multiple suicides occurred there in the early 1980s.

The Orphanage Escape Room: A horror-themed experience based on the fictional "Heaven’s Step Orphanage," designed to mirror the unsettling atmosphere of the city's historical institutions.
