The next A Greener Future "Butt Blitz" event at Lakeridge Health Oshawa is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This volunteer-led cleanup focuses on collecting cigarette butts to be recycled into public park benches. 

A Greener Future has several other cleanups planned in the Oshawa area following the hospital event: 

Separate from these volunteer cleanups, Lakeridge Health is undergoing a major internal project called Project LHEAD (Lakeridge Health Electrification and Decarbonization).

•Date & Time: Wednesday, March 25, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
•Meeting Location: Across from the front entrance of Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
•Host: Recia will be the event host to welcome participants.
•What to Bring: Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothing; all cleanup equipment (gloves, bags, etc.) will be provided.
•Registration: Volunteers can register and find more information on the A Greener Future event page.
•Oshawa Pier: Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
•Lakefront West Park: Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
•Lakeview Park: Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
•Lakeridge Health (April Session): Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
•Goal: To reduce carbon emissions at the Oshawa site by over 5,000 tons annually—equivalent to removing 1,150 cars from the road.
•Measures: Transitioning from fossil fuels to electricity using high-efficiency heat pumps and eliminating wasted energy through building upgrades.
