As per the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, the minimum wage for cleaning staff roles in Bahrain is 300 BHD per month for Bahraini nationals and 250 BHD per month for expatriates as of 2026. Overtime must be paid at 1.25 times the hourly rate after 8 hours per day. Employers must deposit salaries into bank accounts by the 5th of each month.

Expatriates need a valid work permit from the Labour Market Regulatory Authority costing 100 BHD annually plus a medical fitness certificate from approved centers. The employer sponsors the visa through the LMRA portal with a valid passport and employment contract submitted within 30 days of arrival. Renewal requires proof of salary payment records for the prior 12 months.

No formal education certificate is required but applicants must be at least 18 years old with basic Arabic or English reading skills. Prior experience of 6 months in cleaning or janitorial work must be documented via previous employer references submitted with the application. Health clearance confirming no communicable diseases is mandatory before contract signing.

Submit a valid passport, recent photograph, medical report, and signed employment contract to the employer who registers via the LMRA e-services portal. The process takes 7-14 working days with approval notified by SMS. All applications must include the job offer letter specifying 250 BHD minimum salary and 8-hour shifts.
