As per the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, the minimum wage for plumbers in Bahrain is BHD 300 per month as of 1 January 2026 for Bahraini nationals in the private sector. Expatriate plumbers must receive at least BHD 250 per month plus overtime at 1.25 times the hourly rate after 8 hours daily. Employers must deposit salaries into approved bank accounts by the 10th of each month.

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority requires a valid work permit sponsored by a Bahrain-registered employer before arrival, along with a medical fitness certificate issued within 30 days of application. Foreign plumbers must submit a passport valid for at least 6 months, police clearance certificate, and trade test certificate from their home country. The permit costs BHD 200 for 2 years and must be renewed before expiry.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Development requires plumbers to hold at least a secondary school certificate plus 2 years of verified experience in plumbing installations and repairs. Applicants must pass a practical skills assessment conducted by approved training centres and provide attested experience letters from previous employers. No formal university degree is mandatory but a Level 2 vocational certificate increases approval chances.

Job seekers must register on the LMRA portal, upload a CV, passport copy, and experience certificates, then obtain employer sponsorship for the work permit application. Required documents include a recent passport photo, medical report from an approved centre, and educational certificates attested by the Bahraini embassy in the home country. The entire process takes 15-30 working days with fees of BHD 50 for the permit application.
