As per the Ministry of Labour and Social Development, the minimum wage for Bahraini welders in the private sector is 300 BHD per month as of 2026, with overtime paid at 1.25 times the hourly rate after 8 hours daily. Non-Bahraini welders have no statutory minimum but contracts must specify at least 250 BHD monthly plus accommodation.

Foreign welders must obtain a work permit through the Labour Market Regulatory Authority before arrival, with employer sponsorship required and fees set at 200 BHD for a 2-year permit as of 2026. The visa is issued after medical fitness and contract submission within 30 days of entry.

Welders require a minimum of 3 years documented experience plus certification from a recognized body such as AWS or equivalent, with no formal education degree mandated but technical diploma preferred under 2026 Labour Law rules. Employers must verify credentials via the Ministry portal before permit issuance.

Applications require a valid passport, attested educational and experience certificates, medical report from an approved center, and a signed employment contract submitted to LMRA within 10 working days. Police clearance from the home country must be less than 6 months old as of 2026.
