The Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego sets the national minimum wage at R$1,650 per month for all occupations including plumbers starting 1 January 2026. Overtime must be paid at 50% above the hourly rate, calculated as R$9.43 per hour for a 220-hour month. Employers in the construction sector must also pay an additional 8% FGTS contribution on top of this base wage.

Plumbers must hold a valid registro profissional issued by the Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia (CREA) under Lei 6.902/1981, which requires proof of at least 2 years of technical training or 3 years of supervised experience. Without this registration, workers cannot sign contracts for regulated installations such as gas or pressurized systems. The Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego verifies CREA status during labor inspections.

Applicants must upload a valid CPF, carteira de trabalho digital, comprovante de residência, and CREA registration certificate via the Emprega Brasil platform. For positions requiring NR-35 height work, a valid ASO medical certificate dated within the last 12 months is mandatory. The Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego processes complete applications within 10 business days.

The CLT limits plumbers to 44 hours per week with a maximum of 2 hours daily overtime, as enforced by the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego. Workers receive 30 days of paid annual leave after 12 months of service plus an additional 1/3 salary bonus. Sick leave of up to 15 days is paid by the employer before INSS takes over.
