Getting started with electrician work in Egypt
So you've been thinking about electrician jobs in Egypt. It's not the worst idea honestly. Pay can be decent once you get some experience under your belt and there's always demand in Cairo and Alexandria especially.
From what I've seen friends jump in after basic training. They start small with house wiring then move to bigger sites. Thing is you gotta know the local rules or you'll waste time.
Do you need special papers first?
Most places want at least a vocational certificate. Nothing fancy just proof you can handle basic stuff safely. And if you're going for government contracts then a union card helps a ton.
I've heard stories of guys getting turned down because they skipped that step. Don't be that person.
Real talk though some private companies skip the paperwork if you can show skills on the spot. It depends where you apply.
Where the jobs actually are
Construction booms around new cities outside Cairo. That's where lots of openings pop up. Industrial areas near Suez also hire steady electricians for factories.
Residential work stays busy everywhere. People always need outlets fixed or new AC units wired in. Not great pay at first but it adds up with volume.
Look for listings on Facebook groups too. Local pages post daily. Better than some of the big job sites sometimes.
What about money
Entry level might start around 8-12k EGP monthly depending on the city. With a couple years experience it climbs fast. Overtime on big projects makes the difference.
Big difference if you know how to read blueprints. Those guys get pulled for better gigs quicker.
Honestly speaking don't expect riches right away. But it's steady and you can pick up side jobs easy.

And keep your tools sharp. Nothing kills a job faster than showing up unprepared.
Common headaches
Power outages during work. Traffic if you're moving between sites daily. Clients who want it done yesterday but won't pay on time.
I've seen that last one kill motivation for new guys. You learn to get deposits upfront.
