As per the Public Authority for Manpower, the minimum wage for drivers in Kuwait is 400 KWD per month for Kuwaiti nationals as of 2026. Expatriate drivers must receive at least 150 KWD monthly plus overtime at 1.25 times the hourly rate for hours beyond 8 per day.

Expatriate drivers need a work permit issued by the Public Authority for Manpower valid for 1-3 years and a residence visa (Article 18) sponsored by the employer. The permit costs 50 KWD and requires a valid driving license converted within 30 days of arrival.

Drivers must hold a valid Kuwaiti or converted international driving license with at least 2 years of experience for light vehicles or 3 years for heavy vehicles. No formal education beyond secondary school is required but a clean driving record for the past 5 years is mandatory.

Applications require a passport valid for 6 months, attested driving license, police clearance certificate, medical fitness report from a Kuwaiti government hospital, and 4 passport photos. Submission is through the employer's online portal to the Public Authority for Manpower.
