As per the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, the minimum wage for plumbers in Kuwait is 120 KWD per month as of January 2026 for expatriate workers in the private sector. Overtime rates must be paid at 1.25 times the hourly rate for hours exceeding 8 per day. This applies to all licensed contracting firms.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour requires a valid work permit sponsored by a Kuwaiti employer before entry, along with a residence visa (iqama) issued within 30 days of arrival. Applicants must submit a medical fitness certificate, police clearance, and trade test results from an approved center. The permit costs 50 KWD and is valid for one year renewable.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour mandates a minimum of 3 years documented experience in plumbing for expatriates plus a secondary school certificate or equivalent vocational diploma. No university degree is required but a recognized trade certificate from the Public Authority for Manpower must be submitted. Applicants under 21 or over 60 are ineligible.

Applications are submitted online via the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour portal with a valid passport, 4 photos, experience certificates, and employer contract. After approval the worker receives an entry visa within 15 working days. All documents must be attested by the Kuwaiti embassy in the home country before travel.
