The Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social sets the 2026 general minimum wage at 312 MXN per day for drivers in commercial transport roles. Overtime after eight hours must be paid at double rate, reaching 624 MXN per extra hour. This rate took effect on 1 January 2026 nationwide.

Applicants need a valid licencia de conducir federal tipo C or E issued by the Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes plus at least two years of documented driving experience. No formal schooling beyond secundaria is mandated, but a clean record from the Registro Nacional de Conductores is mandatory.

Mexican labor law limits drivers to 48 hours per week with a maximum of eight hours daily. After six consecutive days, a mandatory 24-hour rest period is required, and night shifts receive an additional 20 percent premium on the 312 MXN base wage.

The Servicio Nacional de Empleo requires a CURP, official ID, proof of address, current licencia federal, and IMSS registration number. All documents must be uploaded as PDFs no larger than 2 MB through the portal at www.empleo.gob.mx before the application deadline.
