The Ministry of Labour sets no statutory minimum wage for expatriate packing roles but requires contracts to state at least OMR 200 per month plus food allowance of OMR 30 as of January 2026. Overtime after 8 hours daily must be paid at 1.25 times the hourly rate.

Employers must obtain a work permit from the Ministry of Labour before entry and a residence visa valid for two years costing OMR 20 for issuance as of 2026. Applicants need a valid passport, medical fitness certificate from approved centres, and a no-objection certificate from the sponsor.

Packing positions require completion of basic education up to grade 10 and at least six months documented warehouse experience verified by previous employer letters. No formal vocational certificate is mandatory but forklift operation needs a Ministry-approved licence renewed every two years.

Submit applications through the Ministry of Labour e-services portal with a completed labour contract, passport copy, and two photographs by 31 March 2026 for the next recruitment cycle. Employers upload the documents and pay OMR 50 processing fee within 15 working days.
