As per the National Wages and Productivity Commission, the daily minimum wage for welders in the National Capital Region is PHP 645 as of January 2026. This applies to non-agricultural establishments with over 10 workers and includes a PHP 35 cost-of-living allowance. Overtime pay must be at least 25% above the regular rate for work beyond eight hours.

As per TESDA, welders must hold a National Certificate II in Shielded Metal Arc Welding or Gas Metal Arc Welding issued after completing 156 hours of training. The certificate remains valid for five years and requires renewal through assessment at an accredited center. Employers in construction and shipbuilding verify this certificate during hiring.

As per the Department of Labor and Employment, welders follow an eight-hour workday and 48-hour workweek with at least one rest day. Night shift differential is PHP 13.44 per hour for work between 10 PM and 6 AM. Annual leave includes five days of service incentive leave after one year of service plus 13th-month pay.

As per the Department of Migrant Workers, applicants need a valid passport, TESDA NC II certificate, POEA employment contract, and medical certificate from DOH-accredited clinics. Processing fees total PHP 3,600 including OWWA membership valid for two years. Contracts must be verified before departure to avoid illegal recruitment.
