Welder II
Join our team as a Welder II and make a difference!
• Assemble, align, and tack weld a variety of subassemblies and assemblies of moderate to advanced complexity.
• Utilize tools such as B/Ms, steel tape, and straight edges for fitting and stiffening parts.
• Use torch or carbon arc and hand grinding equipment for alignment and assembly.
• Set up and manage oxyacetylene torch pressure for optimum results.
• Choose appropriate electrode sizes, tips, and rods or wires as needed.
• Adjust gas for proper atmospheric control and regulate current and voltage for metal fusion.
• Inspect and straighten gasket surfaces, and grind excess welds from finished work.
• Lay out, secure, and manage heavy parts and assemblies during the welding process.
• Perform advanced Mig/Tig welding in various positions.
• Conduct preventive maintenance as necessary.
• Provide your own personal tools as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following procedures and regulations.
• Be a resource-conscious team player by effectively using equipment and supplies.
• Mentor others in welding techniques and best practices.
• Ensure all work meets quality standards before it proceeds to the next operation.
• Document your actions by completing production and quality forms accurately.
We are looking for someone who:
• Holds a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Has at least one year of formal welding training or equivalent experience.
• Has at least 3 years of welding experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Can safely use small hand and power tools, and welding equipment.
• Is able to read and interpret technical drawings and Bills of Material.
• Possesses basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
• Can perform Mig and Tig welding in various required positions.
The physical demands of the job include:
• Medium to heavy physical demands classification by the US Dept of Labor.
• Occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds with assistance, frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to carry up to 40 pounds occasionally over short distances.
• Frequent pushing and pulling of weights up to 40 pounds.
• Continuous standing and walking, with frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and lifting.
• Requires grip, manipulation, and use of hand/power tools.
• Involves teamwork for heavier lifting and use of assistive devices.
• Must be medically cleared to wear a PAPR or SAR welding respirator helmet.
