• Basic Function:** Responsible for TIG welding magnesium and aluminum

sand castings

Physical Requirements

Maximum Lift Weight 50 lbs

Maximum Push/Pull Weight 100 lbs

\% Of Time Sitting 10%

\% Of Time Standing90%

Exposed to Severe Weather Conditions: Yes; Summer temps, furnace heat

Specific Responsibilities
• Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of

processed quantities
• Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all

times.
• Understand customer requirements, our companies internal scrap

challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your

job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient

workmanship.
• Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection

into everything you make/process
• Complete, date and sign-off on all routing information; apply weld

stamp where applicable; input required production Data/reporting
• Use weld equipment to repair defects and discontinuities in castings
• Identify weld area through part map (weld map); properly clean part

to remove contamination prior to welding
• Understand casting temper process; perform properly
• May machine and prepare castings for weld plugs & plug castings
• May machine excess stock from castings with milling machine
• May X-Ray castings (if Lev 1 X-Ray or higher certification) for weld

verification
• Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given

standards
• Maintain tools, gages, & equipment in clean orderly, safe &

functioning manner
• Offer ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement in supplies,

product, process, documentation
• Report any problems or discrepancies to immediate management

Skills
• Basic math skills
• Ability to read and understand all procedures required to perform

assigned tasks
• Communication skills
• Completion of Welding coursework/certification

Education/Training

On-the-Job training while working under an experienced operator until

position certification is achieved

1-2 years experience in TIG welding
