As per the Department of Employment and Labour, the minimum wage for cleaning staff in South Africa is R32.45 per hour as of 1 March 2026. This rate applies nationwide under the National Minimum Wage Act with no sector exemptions for contract or office cleaners. Overtime must be paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate after 45 hours in a week.
