As per the Department of Employment and Labour, the national minimum wage for electricians in South Africa is R28.79 per hour as of 1 March 2026. Electricians working more than 45 hours per week must receive 1.5 times this rate for overtime. This applies to all registered electrical contractors under the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
