As per the Ministry of Manpower, the minimum fixed monthly salary for work permit holders employed as drivers is SGD 2,800 from 1 January 2026, with overtime compensation at 1.5 times the hourly rate after 44 hours per week. Drivers must receive at least SGD 2,800 in basic pay excluding allowances to meet renewal criteria. This applies to all foreign drivers on work permits.

The Ministry of Manpower requires foreign drivers to hold a valid Singapore driving licence and secure a work permit sponsored by a licensed employer before starting employment. Employers must pay a monthly levy of SGD 650 for each work permit holder in the driving sector as of 2026. Applications must be submitted online via the MOM Work Pass Online system at least 3 weeks before the intended start date.

According to the Ministry of Manpower, foreign drivers must be aged 21 to 50 years old, possess a valid Class 3 or Class 4 driving licence, and have at least 2 years of driving experience in their home country. Candidates from approved source countries such as Malaysia, China, India, and the Philippines qualify if they pass the required medical examination. No formal education qualification is mandated for driver roles.

The Ministry of Manpower mandates submission of a valid passport, recent passport-sized photo, Singapore driving licence, and employment contract stating SGD 2,800 minimum salary for driver work permit applications in 2026. Employers must also provide the company’s ACRA registration and proof of business activity in transport. All documents must be uploaded through the MOM portal with the application fee of SGD 35.
